I was at McCarty from 2005-2010 ish. I had three different Campus Ministers, Jeff Boerscherding, Josh French, and then Trent Kennedy. (DO)

If you could go back in time, what would your tell your former self on graduation day?

Trust your gut and be flexible. (CO)

Hey look at you…you actually graduated! Unless you’ll let me use graduation from the Southwest school of Preaching, because I left Texas State early. In that case, I’d say, “Preaching is the hardest job you’ll ever do, and while there are times you’re gonna want to quit, there is nothing in the world that is more rewarding than working for the Kingdom!” (DO)

Who were your adoptive parents? (If the program was not yet active, what family(s) invested in you?)

David and Tina Harrell, Wallace and Mary McCarty and Jeremiah and Donna Pizana. (CO)

In no particular order, Scott and Karen Ratcliff, Cliff and Sylvia Caskey, Lonnie and Ruth Johnson, and I think Steve and Carla Sisk…it’s been a long time! (DO)

What is your favorite memory during your time at the McCarty Student Center?

It’s not one event, but the feeling of ease, comfort and love that I had during my college years at McCarty and University. I loved playing Catch Phrase as a group. (CO)

Is it cheesy to say the day Catherine walked into the building and I was convinced she’d be my wife!?! It is, okay, then the nights we hung out at McCarty and would go to the All-Nighter-Dinner for all you can eat pancakes.  (DO)

What advice would you give to current students at McCarty?

Lean on each other during college to stay strong in the faith and continue these friendships into adulthood. (CO)

The friends you make at McCarty are very likely going to be the friends you keep forever. Help each other, trust each other, but hold each other accountable, especially spiritually.  (DO)
